Glitch Stitches

These embroideries are based off of images I photographed then glitched. The stitching was done by hand as a means to better understand how the image is stored digitally, they also reference the history of automation and it’s connection to textile production.

When displayed in a physical space, the embroideries are hung perpendicular to the wall, mounted between two frames so that the viewer can see both the front and back. Showcasing the back give the viewer insight into the process of creation in the same way that glitching digital images visually illustrates how the files are organized and stored.
